Specialist Progressive Lens Fitting in Amman

At Eye 2 Eye Optical in Sweifieh, Amman, we specialize in choosing and fitting progressive lenses. Over more than 20 years, we have sold thousands of progressive lenses and worked with a wide range of prescriptions, daily routines and previous wearing experiences.

That experience helps us understand what you need from your glasses: comfortable vision for driving, computer work, reading, or moving between these tasks. We combine personal guidance, digital fitting measurements and follow-up after collection.

What Are Progressive and Multifocal Lenses?

Progressive lenses provide distance, intermediate and near vision in one pair of glasses, with a gradual change in optical power and no visible dividing line. They can reduce the need to switch between distance and reading glasses.

Multifocal is the broader term for lenses with more than one viewing power. Progressive lenses are one type of multifocal lens. Bifocals are another: they have a separate, visible reading segment. Progressive lenses are also known as varifocal lenses.

Who Are Progressive Lenses Suitable For?

Progressive lenses are commonly considered when presbyopia, the age-related reduction in near focusing ability, begins to affect reading. Many people notice this change in their forties.

  • You hold your phone or a book farther away to read.
  • You remove your distance glasses for close work.
  • You switch between glasses for distance, reading and computer use.
  • You want a practical everyday pair for several viewing distances.

Your age alone does not determine the right choice. We consider your eye examination, working distances and experience with previous glasses.

How Do Progressive Lenses Work?

The lens has three main viewing areas. Their useful ranges depend on your prescription and the chosen design.

Distance

Upper area
Road, television and objects farther away

Intermediate

Middle corridor
Computer screens and other tasks at arm’s length

Near

Lower area
Books, documents and your phone

Progressive lenses also have side areas where vision may be less sharp. The distribution of these areas differs by design; careful selection and fitting matter.

Why Do Progressive Lens Designs and Prices Differ?

Two lenses can carry the same prescription but offer a different wearing experience. Differences can include the usable viewing areas, distribution of peripheral blur, level of personalization, lens material and coatings.

Some designs allow more tailoring to your frame, wearing position and visual priorities. Those features may be useful for someone who spends many hours on a particular task, but the most expensive option is not automatically the best match for everyone.

We explain what changes between the available options so you understand what you are paying for and can choose within your budget.

How Our Experience Helps You Choose

Our work with thousands of progressive lenses has taught us to pay attention to the details that differ from one wearer to another.

  • First-time wearers: we explain the viewing areas, frame choice and what to expect when using the glasses.
  • Experienced wearers: we ask what works well in your current pair and what you want to improve.
  • Uncomfortable previous glasses: we identify whether the difficulty involves reading, screens, distance vision or the way the frame sits.

We discuss your occupation, driving, reading, screen use and budget before recommending a design. Your answers guide the selection.

Digital Fitting Measurements with ZEISS i.Terminal

A well-chosen lens needs accurate positioning in the frame. At Eye 2 Eye Optical, we use ZEISS i.Terminal on iPad to take digital lens-fitting measurements after adjusting the frame on your face and attaching the measurement clip.

We assess pupil positions and fitting heights, together with the frame and wearing-position information required by the selected design. These measurements support positioning the viewing areas appropriately in front of your eyes.

Digital measurements work alongside an accurate prescription, suitable lens design, careful frame adjustment and follow-up. Our aim is clear, practical and comfortable vision in your daily activities.

Why Frame Choice Matters

The frame needs to fit comfortably and consistently before measurements are taken. Its size, shape and position influence how the progressive viewing areas can be fitted.

We choose the frame and lens together, check that the design suits the available lens depth, and adjust the glasses when you collect them. Even an advanced lens may not perform as intended if the prescription, measurements or positioning are unsuitable.

Progressive Lens Brands and Options

Our progressive lens range includes ZEISS, Essilor Varilux, Rodenstock, Synchrony, KODAK and ASAHI-LITE.

ZEISS options include Progressive Pure, Plus, Superb and Individual 3. Essilor Varilux options include Liberty 3.0, Comfort Max, Physio and XR Series. Product availability, materials and feature combinations depend on your prescription and the current range offered.

We explain the differences between the actual products available for your order, including their design and personalization options. You can also explore ZEISS progressive lens information and Essilor Varilux information from the manufacturers.

Lens Materials, Coatings and Sun Options

Depending on the product and prescription, progressive lenses may be available with thinner high-index materials, photochromic technologies such as Transitions or ZEISS PhotoFusion X, anti-reflective and easy-clean coatings, or prescription sun options including polarization.

Blue-violet light filtering is an optional feature. It does not replace the near support provided by the progressive lens design. We explain which combinations are available and useful for your needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Long Does It Take to Adjust to Progressive Lenses?

Adaptation varies between wearers. Some become comfortable quickly, while others need more time to learn where to look through the lens. We explain how to use the viewing areas when you collect your glasses.

Turning your head toward objects far to the side can help you use the central viewing area. Take extra care on stairs and uneven surfaces while becoming familiar with the glasses, and drive only when you can see clearly and use them confidently.

If blur or discomfort continues, return for a check of the prescription, measurements, frame position and lens installation.

Are Progressive Lenses Good for Computer Work?

Everyday progressives can cover computer distances. For prolonged desk work, a separate pair of office lenses may provide a more useful near and intermediate viewing area.

We consider your screen distance, screen height and work routine. Office lenses have a limited distance range and are not intended for driving.

Should I Choose Progressives, Bifocals or Separate Glasses?

Progressives provide distance, intermediate and near areas without a visible line. Bifocals have separate distance and reading areas, without a dedicated intermediate corridor. Separate single vision glasses can be selected for one main working distance.

The appropriate choice depends on your prescription, daily tasks and preferences. We help you compare the practical benefits of each option.

Can Progressive Lenses Be Photochromic or Sunglasses?

Yes, these options are available for selected products and prescriptions. If sunlight while driving is a priority, tell us before ordering: many standard photochromic lenses darken less behind a car windshield. A different light-adaptive product or prescription sunglasses may be more suitable.
